How to use patient tasks
A patient task is an administrative to-do for a patient: requesting an insurer’s authorization, calling to confirm an appointment, asking for a missing document or collecting a balance. Each task has an assignee and, optionally, a due date.
Create a task
- Open Patients and enter the patient’s profile.
- Go to the Administrative tab and find Patient tasks.
- Type the task. It is yours by default; under Assignee you can give it to a colleague.
- If it has a deadline, pick the Due date. + Add note keeps details such as a reference number.
- Press Add.

In the menu, Tasks gathers every patient’s to-dos:
- My tasks, All or Unassigned change whose tasks you see.
- The Overdue, Due today, Upcoming and Done tiles filter by date. Press one again to clear the filter.
- Tick the box to complete a task. The pencil edits it and the bin deletes it, after you confirm.
The red number next to Tasks in the menu counts your overdue and due-today tasks.
Alerts
- When a colleague assigns you a task, you get an alert in the bell.
- On the day it is due, at 7:00 a.m., you get another alert.
Tip
If you already did a task, mark it done instead of deleting it, so the record shows it was done.
