How to capture informed consent

An informed consent documents that the patient accepted a procedure. Start with a template, customize it and sign it.

Steps

  1. In Clinical → Consent Templates, create or choose a template.
  2. From the patient’s consultation, tap New consent and choose the template.
  3. Review the text; you can use AI to adapt it to the case.
  4. Ask the patient to sign it (or sign as responsible party).
  5. Save. The consent stays in the patient’s record with its timestamp.

Tip

Create one template for each common procedure: that way you just choose it and sign, without drafting from scratch each time.

The data authorization, with no encounter open

A patient who walks up to the desk has no encounter yet, and their data processing authorization (Law 1581) cannot wait for one: it is what allows their data to be stored at all.

  1. Open the patient and go to the Documents tab.
  2. Click Registrar autorización de datos. No encounter is needed.
  3. Ask the patient to sign.

Signing records the titular’s authorization. It is the same one a patient gives when booking online, captured at the front desk.

Revoking

In Documents, every signed consent has Revocar.

Revoking does not delete the document. It stays, with its signature, marked as revoked and dated. That is the only way to answer later “were they authorized on the day we contacted them?” — a deleted document answers nothing.

⚠️ When the titular revokes their data processing authorization, the system stops sending them messages. If the practice tries to write from the inbox, the reply is refused and says why.
